photography workshop

11 and up

group and individual sessions
● online worldwide
● offline in Belgrade

The moment of creation in photography is similar to a state of consciousness very much sought after in yoga. Or Gestalt therapy. It is to be at the exact center of one's being, where an awareness of everything going on inside oneself — in fantasy, memory, emotions and thought — is balanced by sensitivity to what is happening outside the person and what it means and feels and is.

About the workshop

language: English

16 sessions, held once or twice a week.
As soon as an online or offline group is formed,
we agree on the schedule together.
The next workshops will start in autumn 2025,
once the groups are complete.

Online sessions take place via Google Meet
Offline sessions are held in Belgrade
(Vukice Mitrović Street)

The program combines three blocks:
  • Photography history (what was shot before us, how and by whom)
  • Technical skills (how to work with a camera and light)
  • Practice (what we want to photograph — and what to do with it)
The content may be adjusted based on the group’s interests and needs.

Offline result — an exhibition or a photo book
Online result — a personal online portfolio

Individual lessons are also possible — online or in Belgrade.
Age limits, technical requirements
No fancy camera needed — your phone is just fine.
For offline sessions I bring some of my cameras for free use, although.
Age doesn’t matter — open to anyone aged 11 to 18.

Who I am and how long I've been teaching
I’m a documentary photographer working at the intersection of journalism, art, and commercial photography — sometimes covering a wedding in the morning, opening a gallery show in the evening, and flying out on assignment the next day. I studied photojournalism at MSU, photography at IHECS in Brussels and art at Rodchenko Art School in Moscow.

Before emigration, I spent three years teaching in Moscow schools as part of an initiative that brought real professionals into the classroom. My students made exhibitions, photobooks, and even launched an award-winning photo magazine. I saw how photography helped them process change, reflect on their environment, and accept themselves. Since then, I’ve continued teaching — in Israel, I led a full workshop (see result) and a photo walk series (see result), and the experience made it clear I couldn't stop.

More About the Approach
This work is primarily about reflection:

Who am I? Where am I? Who and what is around me? How do I feel about it? What does it remind me of? What emotions does it bring up — and how can I express them through photography?

I don’t impose trendy aesthetics — I simply offer gentle guidance, trying not to steer anyone away from the path that only they can see.

We look at what was photographed before us, starting from 1839.
We discuss each other’s work, learn how cameras and light work.

I am not teaching how to shoot “selling images” or collect lots of likes on Instagram — there are marketing courses for that.

Here, young authors begin to shape their own unique visual language.
